Inaugural Mornington Peninsula Classic Delivers a Standout Week of Destination Golf

The inaugural Mornington Peninsula Classic, delivered by Classic Golf Events, has been hailed a resounding success after bringing together players for a memorable week of golf across one of Australia’s most celebrated golf regions.

Held from April 26 to May 1, 2026, the event showcased four outstanding Mornington Peninsula layouts — Moonah Links Resort, Portsea Golf Club, St Andrews Beach Golf Course and The Dunes Golf Links — with players treated to exceptional autumn weather, quality tournament conditions and a strong social atmosphere throughout the week.

The tournament officially began with a registration event at St Andrews Beach Brewery, where players collected their event information and exclusive registration gift packs, proudly supported by Callaway Golf Australia. The relaxed welcome event set the tone for the week, with participants enjoying food, drinks and the chance to connect before the competition began.

Opening day was played at Moonah Links Resort, where clear skies and excellent course presentation provided the ideal start to the tournament. Players responded with some impressive scoring, while the post-round lunch and presentation in the clubhouse added to a strong first-day experience.

Round two moved to Portsea Golf Club, where a morning shotgun start greeted the field. With the course again presented in outstanding condition, players were tested by Portsea’s famously sharp short-game demands, particularly around the fast and smooth greens. The hospitality from the Portsea team was warmly received and helped continue the momentum established on day one.

A scheduled rest day gave participants the opportunity to enjoy the broader Mornington Peninsula region. Some players made the most of the day with a visit to the local hot springs, while others chose additional practice rounds or returned to St Andrews Beach Brewery for more food, drinks and socialising.

The third round brought the tournament to St Andrews Beach Golf Course, where the event’s leading players looked to make their move. The course was presented in immaculate condition, while the venue’s new clubhouse and facilities proved a major talking point among participants. Strong scoring and overwhelmingly positive feedback reflected the quality of the experience, with many players already expressing their intention to return.

The final round was held at The Dunes Golf Links, providing a fitting conclusion to the inaugural event. Under summer-like conditions, players enjoyed another superbly presented golf course and a competitive final day before gathering for the presentation lunch, where the divisional winners were crowned.

Across the week, the Mornington Peninsula Classic successfully combined competitive golf with a relaxed and highly social tournament atmosphere. The format, destination setting and quality of the host venues were all central to the event’s success, with many participants already signalling their interest in returning for the next edition.

Classic Golf Events extends its thanks to the event’s supporting sponsors and host venues, whose collaboration helped bring the inaugural Mornington Peninsula Classic to life:
