Everything you need to know before you play

What is Classic Golf Events?

Classic Golf Events is the umbrella brand behind a growing series of multi-round amateur golf tournaments held at iconic golfing destinations across Australia. It encompasses both the long-running Sunshine Coast Classic (previously trading as Golf Sunshine Coast) and the newly launched Mornington Peninsula Classic.

Each Classic event offers a premium tournament experience, combining 72 holes of Stableford competition across top-ranked public access courses with social events, daily prizes, and tailored golf travel options.

Who can enter the Classic Golf Events tournaments?

Entry is open to male and female amateur golfers who hold a recognised golf handicap (or equivalent) and meet the conditions set out in the event’s registration page.

How do I register for the Sunshine Coast Classic or the Mornington Peninsula Classic?

Players must complete the official online entry form, pay the required entry fee, and submit all required details by the closing date. Early registration is encouraged, as fields are limited.

What are the entry fees, refunds and cancellation policies?

The prescribed fee must accompany the registration. Entry fees are refundable if cancellation is made by a specified date (60 days before the event) or if government restrictions prevent the event.

What format do these Classic Golf Events follow?

The tournaments are played over 72 holes (4 rounds) of Stableford scoring, with all competitors playing all rounds. Daily prizes may also be awarded.

What happens in the event of bad weather or unforeseen circumstances?

The Committee reserves the right to alter starting times, shorten the contest, change day or venue, or vary any conditions deemed necessary in the interest of fairness and safety.

What are the dress code and conduct requirements for players?

All competitors must adhere to the dress standards and course rules of the host facility. Non‑compliance with dress regulations may result in a player not being permitted to take their place.

Are motorised carts and GPS/yardage devices allowed?

Use of motorised vehicles and GPS or distance‑measuring devices will be governed by the host club’s conditions. Competitors should review the conditions of play for each event.

What about accommodation and travel arrangements?

Each event offers curated accommodation options and travel guidance. For competitors and supporters, information on accommodation deals are available via the event website, with links to venue accommodation pages.

How can I find my tee time or daily draw?

Starting times and draws will be published prior to each round on the official event website and via email to entrants. Players are encouraged to check regularly for updates.

Which courses host the Sunshine Coast Classic and Mornington Peninsula Classic tournaments?

The Sunshine Coast Classic is conducted at premium courses on the Sunshine Coast including Maroochy River Golf Club, Noosa Springs Golf Club, Palmer Coolum Golf Resort & Twin Waters Golf Club.

The Mornington Peninsula Classic features Moonah Links Resort, Portsea Golf Club, St Andrews Beach Golf Course and The Dunes Golf Links.

Can I play a practice round at the host courses before the tournament begins?

Details on practice round availability and and discounted pricing will be made available closer to each event.

What handicap requirements do I need to meet for entry?

How are ties resolved in the event of equal scores?
