Sunshine Coast August Classic Delivers a Standout Week of Destination Golf

More than 100 golfers from across Australia and New Zealand descended on the Sunshine Coast in August for a memorable fourth edition of the August Sunshine Coast Classic.

Held from 16–21 August 2026, the tournament brought together competitive golf, outstanding venues and the relaxed social atmosphere that has become a hallmark of Classic Golf Events.

Across four rounds of individual Stableford competition, players tested their games at Maroochy River Golf Club, Palmer Coolum Golf Resort, Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort and Twin Waters Golf Club—four distinctly different courses showcasing the quality and variety of golf available on the Sunshine Coast.

The week began at Twin Waters, where players collected their tournament information and exclusive welcome packs, proudly supported by Titleist Australia. The registration event gave returning competitors an opportunity to reconnect and welcomed first-time participants into the Classic community.

When competition began at Maroochy River Golf Club on Monday, clear skies and excellent course conditions set the scene for an impressive opening round. Strong early scoring signalled that the divisional titles would be closely contested, while the post-round presentation and clubhouse hospitality provided an enjoyable finish to the tournament’s first day.

Round two shifted to Palmer Coolum Golf Resort. The weather became more challenging as the round progressed, testing the field’s patience and shot-making. The players who adapted best were rewarded, but the quality of the course and the hospitality of the Palmer Coolum team remained highlights for the entire field.

Wednesday’s scheduled rest day provided an opportunity to experience more of the Sunshine Coast. Some participants explored the region’s markets and attractions, while others proved that four tournament rounds were not quite enough and headed back onto the course for an additional social game.

With the tournament entering its decisive stages, play resumed at Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort. Moving day lived up to its billing as the leading contenders looked to strengthen their positions ahead of the final round. The course was presented in immaculate condition, and the resort’s clubhouse and facilities drew enthusiastic feedback from the field.

Twin Waters Golf Club provided the setting for Friday’s finale. Warm, summer-like conditions greeted the players as the divisional contests reached their conclusion on another beautifully presented course.

When the final points were tallied, Steven Shields claimed the Men’s Division 1 title with 138 points, finishing one point ahead of David Carey. Tony Grayling produced an outstanding four-round total of 152 points to win Men’s Division 2, while Felicity Broadley secured the Ladies Division with 134 points.

The tournament concluded with a presentation lunch at Twin Waters, where players gathered to celebrate the week’s leading performances and reflect on four rounds of golf played in a competitive but characteristically friendly spirit.
